Esposende Nautical Station

Esposende will always be a territory intimately linked to water… with the Soul of the Sea and River… In this embrace with the Sea and River, there are stories and tales, traditions, culture, gastronomy, and countless other aspects that contribute to the consolidation of our nautical offerings: sea, Cávado and Neiva rivers, beach, North Coast Natural Park, marinas/river marinas, anchorages, and spaces for nautical sports: nautical clubs and schools for kitesurfing, surfing, paddle surfing, canoeing, windsurfing, and others.

This is the slogan of the Esposende Nautical Station, as it plays on its initials and identifies Esposende as a place where there are countless things we have the possibility to experience.

The “Door to the Esposende Nautical Station” is located in the Tourist Information Center and serves as a physical structure to welcome visitors. This self-guided tour area allows visitors to find more detailed information about the tourist offerings of this destination.

Entry to the "Gate" is through a wave-shaped "tunnel." Immediately to the right, there is a prominent tribute to João Ribeiro, an Olympic canoeist and ambassador for ENE (Esposende Tourism). A route then follows, laid out on the floor, highlighting points of interest in the area. Along this path, you will also find vertical support panels with relevant information, as well as an LCD screen where you can view promotional videos. This space also features a display dedicated to all of ENE's partners.

Esposende is located at the mouth of the Cávado River, on the Atlantic coast of northern Portugal, and is served by excellent land connections that link it to the main urban centers of northern Portugal and Galicia.

The border with Spain is only 75 km to the north. This "Land of the Sea" is located in the center of a triangle where the cities of Porto (50km south via the A28), Braga (35km east via the A11), and Viana do Castelo (25km north via the A28) stand out. Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport is 44km away (approximately a 20-minute drive via the A28).

The municipality of Esposende possesses unparalleled heritage, revealed through the architecture of its places and its traditional customs and traditions. Among the existing monuments, the following stand out: the Castro de São Lourenço in Vila Chã; the Chapel of Our Lady of Guia in Belinho; the Chapel of the Seafarers in the Church of Mercy of Esposende; the São João Batista Fort at the mouth of the Cávado River; the Bonança Beacon and Chapel in Fão, among other places to visit.

Nature lovers here have countless opportunities to fully enjoy themselves, whether through hiking trails, horseback riding, cycling, or even on the water, practicing canoeing and kitesurfing, in addition to other nautical activities. The presence of the sea is one of the characteristics of this municipality, whose coastline features "open beaches" with sands of different configurations.

The delicious gastronomy delights all who seek out restaurants, especially with its fish and seafood dishes from our coast, not forgetting the light, smooth and aromatic Vinho Verde wines and the sweet pastries.
