Odemira Nautical Station

The Odemira Nautical Station is located in the Municipality of Odemira and comprises 3 poles along the Mira River: the Vila Nova de Milfontes Nautical Pole, the Odemira Nautical Pole, and the Santa Clara Reservoir Nautical Pole.

It consists of a network of high-quality nautical and complementary tourism offerings, organized around the enhancement of existing nautical resources in the territory.

The Municipality of Odemira possesses natural water-related features that represent differentiating assets, namely the Mira River, the coastline, and the Santa Clara reservoir. In addition, the entire gastronomic, cultural, hotel, and sporting and tourist entertainment offering contribute to positioning Odemira as a top tourist destination.

The physical structures for welcoming visitors are located in the nautical centers, namely, in the tourist offices of Vila Nova de Milfontes, Odemira, and Santa Clara-a-Velha.

The Odemira Nautical Station's mission is to organize, promote, and provide visitors and residents with an integrated and diverse range of nautical activities and other complementary events, as well as to ensure the economic, social, and environmental sustainability of the territory.

The municipality of Odemira is located in southern Portugal, in the southwestern area of ​​Baixo Alentejo and belongs to the District of Beja, being integrated into the NUT III. Alentejo Litoral. It is bordered to the north by the municipalities of Sines and Santiago do Cacém, to the east by Ourique, and to the south and southeast by Aljezur, Monchique, and Silves. To the west, the Atlantic Ocean bathes the approximately 55 kilometers of coastline of the municipality, where 12 kilometers of beaches have good quality waters for bathing. The entire coastal strip of the Odemira territory is within the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, which, in addition to the land area, also includes the marine area as a classified area.

It has 29,523 inhabitants (INE Census 2021) distributed over an area of ​​1,721 km², making it the largest municipality in the country.

The town of Odemira is the seat of a municipality, which is organized into 13 parishes, namely, Boavista dos Pinheiros, Colos, Longueira/Almograve, Luzianes-Gare, Relíquias, Sabóia, Santa Clara-a-Velha, S. Luís, S. Martinho das Amoreiras, S. Salvador e Santa Maria, S.Teotónio, Vale de Santiago and Vila Nova de Milfontes.
