Hero Background

Ponte de Sor-Montargil Nautical Station

The Ponte de Sor – Montargil Nautical Station was certified in 2025 and stems from the desire to create a structured offering, based on a diverse network of partners representing the best the region has to offer.

The Ponte de Sor – Montargil Nautical Station is based on the enhancement of the Ribeira de Sor river and the Montargil Dam, two excellent natural assets that constitute the main support for the region's tourism and nautical offerings. Around the "water" product, a transversal and complementary network of resources, services, and experiences is developed, designed to enhance the attractiveness of the municipality and encourage longer stays by visitors.

The Municipality of Ponte de Sor is the Coordinating Entity of this Nautical Station, which is expected to be in constant evolution with the addition of new partners over time. Currently, we have a network of 28 partners.

The Ponte de Sor – Montargil Nautical Station is a prime destination that combines the natural beauty of the Montargil Dam with the diverse tourist offerings of the Ponte de Sor municipality. Integrated into a landscape of great beauty, it provides visitors with a unique experience where water, nature, sport, culture, and typical Alentejo gastronomy combine harmoniously.

The Ponte de Sor Riverside Area is one of the city's most emblematic leisure spaces, located next to the Ribeira de Sor river. With ample green areas, hiking and cycling trails, rest areas, and sports equipment, it offers a pleasant environment for walking, physical exercise, and contact with nature. The area also includes a playground, municipal swimming pools, canoeing areas, and an open-air amphitheater where cultural events and local festivities take place. Due to its combination of landscape, leisure, and heritage, it constitutes an important meeting point for residents and visitors.

Recognized for its quality and the collaboration between public and private entities, the Nautical Station offers a wide range of nautical and leisure activities, such as boat trips, canoeing, paddleboarding, sailing, sport fishing, and other experiences related to the aquatic environment. Complementing this offering, visitors will find quality accommodations, dining options, cultural heritage sites such as the Ponte de Sor Arts and Culture Center and the Montargil Cultural Center, ecological and cycling trails, as well as a diverse calendar of events throughout the year.

More than just a tourist destination, the Ponte de Sor – Montargil Nautical Station is a gateway to discovering the best of Alto Alentejo, providing moments of relaxation, adventure, and contact with nature in a welcoming and authentic setting.
