The Sesimbra Naval Club was founded on September 4, 1930, by fishing and nautical sports enthusiasts who, from the very beginning, rightly understood that the town of Sesimbra was an excellent seaside resort, possessing unique characteristics in the world and therefore deserving of a center for sport fishing and nautical sports to boost tourism in the town.
At the time, this was an innovative vision for the future, given the means and mentalities available, but that is how the Naval Club was born, through the initiative of prestigious figures from Sesimbra, led by the Mayor, Captain-Engineer Joaquim Mateus Preto Chagas.
Today, with almost 100 years of history and work done in plain sight, the CNS has reached a remarkable level of development, possessing the appropriate and necessary infrastructure to be considered a nautical club of European class and a center for social and sporting development for the town of Sesimbra.
